DAILY ROUTINE: - Change for Class (5 Minutes) - Warm-up/Attendence (running laps, dynamic stretching, etc.) -Cognitive Concepts- "I Can...." - Skill development, Lead up games, Game play - Cool down/Closing words -Class will be dismissed from bleachers
Grading: Participation, Behavior, Dress: 60% - Each day you will be graded on your level of participation. At the end of the term, your points will be totaled, and a grade will be assigned. Successful Learning Behavior: -Accepts Responsibility -Follows classroom rules -Active during physical activity Successful Learning Behavior Effort: -Advanced: 10-8 Points -Basic: 7-5 Points -Minimal: 4-0 Points -These points can be made up (optional) by completing a make-up assignment if the student misses class for a school function or other excused absent. This must be completed within 15 calendar days from absence. Dress: You will receive a point for each day you are in physical education school approved clothing. Each day you are inappropriately dressed, you will receive a Zero! If student does not comply with the dress expectations, 3 times per quarter, detention will be given.
Skills Observation/ Skills Test: 20% - Ability, mechanics, and effort to master skills being taught. Demonstration of working with others and showing leadership. Scores received during any skills tests and or observations throughout the unit.
Fitness Test: 20% - Mile, Push-Ups, Pull-Ups and Sit-ups -Fitnessgram Grading Scale: A 100- 94 A- 93-90 B+ 89-87 B 86-84 B- 83-80 C+ 79-77 C 76-74 C- 73-70 D+ 69-67 D 66-64 D- 63-60
Classroom Management
Expectations -Students are to report to class on time. -Students are to report for attendance 5 minutes after bell. -All students must participate to their best ability. -All students are required to dress everyday in school approved clothing. This includes: -T-shirt (No Tank Tops) -Shorts, Sweatpants, or Athletic Capris -Dress for the weather as we will be outside at times -Athletic Socks -Tennis Shoes -Electronic devices must remain in locker during physical education class.
IN CLASS CONSEQUENCES: EVERY DECISION HAS A CONSEQUENCE, COULD BE POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE. WHILE IN CLASS YOU'ER EXPECTED TO BE LISTENING AND ENGAGED AND FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS. BELOW IS A LIST OF CONSEQUENCES IN ORDER:
1. WARNING 2. REMOVAL FROM PARTICIPATION 3. REFERRAL TO OPTIONS ROOM.
Safety The safety of the student is very important to the Pine City Physical Education Department. -Food, drinks, and gum are prohibited during physical education class and in the locker room. -No horse playing in the gymnasium or locker rooms. -No dunking, and no hanging on rims. -No shooting baskets or use of any kind of equipment between classes or after school unless supervised. - No cell phones, ear buds connected to music devices allowed in class - all of that needs to be left in locker room.

Materials: - Equipment (balls, sticks, exercise videos, etc.) suitable to the activity being taught. Written tests will be given at the end of some unit.
Lockers & Locks: - Each student will be issued a locker and combination lock. If lock is lost, a new one will be issued at the cost of $5.00. The physical education department will not be liable for any items lost or stolen in the locker room, remember to lock your lockers!
Make-up Days: -To make-up days for missed class you will have 15 calendar days to complete one of the following: - Online article review (If you miss M,T, Th or F) Workout Wednesdays Make-up during study hall or morning workouts! Articles are of googled and unit focused. For example if we are in Basketball, google basketball and pick and interesting article. -Morning Workout (M-TH/6:15-7:15am) - Visit a Community fitness center and write about your experience in 2-3 paragraphs.
Notes & Excuses: - In order to be excused from class participation, a note from a parent, school nurse, or doctor must be brought to your teacher at the beginning of your period. Lack of a note means participation points will be a zero for the day. - Parents/Students- If you have any questions regarding any of the material or subjects covered in class please contact the teacher to set up a meeting to discuss the curriculum.
